Generating Solar Power

About this project

SPAR Lulekani in the Limpopo province of South Africa is our sixth solar project for a SPAR supermarket. Nestled between game reserves and tropical gardens, SPAR Lulekani is a central hub for their surrounding communities.

This SPAR plays a major role in serving the Lulekani community and is so much more than just a grocery store -- it's a bakery, a restaurant, a butcher shop and a place where this warm, welcoming community comes together. The last year has been a trying and critical time for grocery stores, and the team at SPAR Lulekani has persevered, adapted and banded together in order to safely, reliably and consistently serve the community, delivering food and essential goods.

Impact and benefits

In the current global economic climate, it has become vital for organisations to reconsider new ways of cutting costs. Buying solar cells in this project will dramatically reduce operating costs for SPAR Lulekani, enabling the supermarket to continue the important work that they do.
